The German Excelsior Motor Firm, initially a bicycle manufacturing company based in Coventry, England, began production of their first motorcycle model in 1896. Hildebrand & Wolfmüller became the first series production motorbike, and the first to be termed a motorcycle. The Orient-Aster, constructed by Charles Metz in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1898, was the first manufacturing motorcycle in the United States. Many bicycle manufacturers altered their designs to accommodate the new internal combustion engine in the early days of motorcycle history. We have a number of highly qualified instructors on staff, including one who is an advanced rider. 111 candidates completed the module 2 test for a full license last year (2018).

What would I do if I scheduled a CBT test in Edinburgh?

A CBT test is made up of five elements labeled A through E. These five elements will be completed in the order listed during the day.

How long does it take to complete a CBT test?

A CBT test usually takes one day to complete, although it may take longer if you need extra time to master the controls of the motorcycle or moped. Knowing how to ride a bicycle will be really beneficial, so if you haven't done so in a while, it's a good idea to do so before taking your CBT.

If you do not complete your CBT to the satisfaction of the instructor, you will be invited to return for extra instruction on another day. Do not be worried or angry if this occurs; some people take longer than others to acquire control of a two-wheeled vehicle, but we all get there in the end. The most crucial thing to keep in mind is that this is for your own safety. If your instructor asks you to return for more instruction, they will be concerned about your safety.

Is CBT a test or an assessment?

A CBT, contrary to popular assumption, is more of an evaluation than a test; your instructor will observe your abilities throughout the day and offer you a pass certificate if you complete the day to the required competency (professionally known as a DL196). A CBT certificate is valid for two years, and you will not need to renew it after you have finished your full motorbike examination. If you do not continue your training in Edinburgh after two years, you will be obliged to retake the CBT test.
